The Venue

Ali and Julian's warm and enchanting wedding at Troutbeck was an absolute joy for our team to plan and design. Their love for literature, sentimentality, nature, and the warmth of being surrounded by loved ones was reflected in every detail and choice of venue. Troutbeck, an enchanting private estate, country inn, and tavern since the 1700s, has long been a cherished retreat for distinguished guests with a passion for the arts, literature, policy, and social justice. During the Benton family's ownership, the estate frequently hosted luminaries like Thoreau, Emerson, and the naturalist John Burroughs. Ali and Julian were excited to welcome their guests to stay on property for a weekend to enjoy Troutbeck’s amazing amenities and allow our team to transform so many of Troutbeck’s amazing spaces. The Invitation

The Ceremony

For their ceremony, Ali and Julian chose to transform the Tall Barn at Troutbeck into a stunning ceremonial space. We collaborated with Fox Fodder Farm to create a vine-like ceiling installation and a dramatic chuppah against the Tall Barn's crisp white backdrop. By incorporating honey-colored fall foliage, vines, and amarinthus, we sidestepped traditional fall clichés, allowing the architectural elements to maintain a modern, romantic, and full aesthetic for the ceremony design. The chuppah was exquisite and looked like the branches were floating. The space felt light and airy like Ali’s veil. Emily Baird mimicked the vines in the ceremony programs.

Cocktail Hour

The cocktail hour unfolded just outside the main house at Troutbeck, offering guests a picturesque setting to begin the celebration. After the ceremony guests crossed over Troutbeck's iconic red bridge, spanning the serene stream that winds through the property, they were greeted with a selection of exquisitely passed appetizers. Surrounded by the lush beauty of nature, guests mingled and savored the moment, immersed in the tranquil atmosphere that makes Troutbeck such a unique and enchanting location. The combination of the natural surroundings and carefully curated details set the perfect tone for the evening ahead.

Reception

We loved designing the Troutbeck ballroom with Ali, drawing inspiration from one of her and Julian’s favorite painter’s color palettes. The floral arrangements by Fox Fodder Farm set a stunning tone with rich hues of honey, burgundy, peach, and purple. The dripping candles cast a warm, inviting glow, enhancing the romantic ambiance. The ballroom was bathed in soft yellow tones that mirrored the fall foliage outside, while the golden candle holders in various shapes added a touch of elegance. The BBJ linens introduced a beautiful sheen to the table scape that reflected the candlelight and were complemented by the elegant linen napkins. Emily Baird’s menus, which echoed the invitation suite’s playful artfulness, perfectly tied together the festive atmosphere.

Cake

The cake held a special place in Ali and Julians’s big day. Ali’s favorite cake is the nut-free carrot cake from the iconic Jean George bakery. The pastry chef created the most beautiful vintage buttercream cake to celebrate the couple. 5 tiers of carrot cake with vintage piping was the perfect accent!

The Afterparty

Jove crafted an extraordinary after-party, complete with late-night karaoke that kept guests singing into the early hours of the morning. A vibrant neon sign reading "Night of Joy," a nod to where the bride and groom first met, adorned the walls, adding a personal touch. The lighting design throughout the Troutbeck space transformed it into a spectacular after-hours venue, enhancing the lively atmosphere. Guests also enjoyed an array of delicious late-night bites, making the celebration both unforgettable and delectable.
