About The Bowery Hotel

The Bowery Hotel itself is iconic, blending old-world charm with chic yet laid-back New York vibes, located downtown in the Bowery neighborhood. The hotel boasts 135 rooms, including stunning suites perfect for couples getting ready or for VIP guests. The event space is extraordinary, featuring soaring 13-foot ceilings, Moroccan tiles, and an expansive 2,000-square-foot outdoor terrace, offering both indoor and outdoor event options. The Bowery Hotel is always buzzing, and the lobby bar is no exception—featuring delicious handcrafted cocktails, a roaring fireplace, and intimate seating, it’s a major perk of staying at the hotel.

Why do you love working at this venue?

The Bowery Hotel wedding event space is perfectly designed for weddings and events, with a private entrance adjacent to the hotel entrance. Up a flight of steps, you enter a beautiful bar on the right and an expansive terrace on the left, creating a perfect welcome moment for guests. The ceremony often takes place in the fireplace room, where natural light pours in from oversized windows, highlighting the green glazed tile fireplace. After the ceremony, guests return to the front bar and terrace for cocktail hour, enjoying a blend of indoor and outdoor spaces. The fireplace room often transforms into a dance floor, while the iconic dining room features one or two long tables under chandeliers. The service at The Bowery Hotel is impeccable; the staff is a well-oiled machine, taking their jobs seriously. The Italian-inspired cuisine perfectly complements the space's vibe, always fresh and delicious, prepared in a nearby kitchen. The sales and production teams at The Bowery Hotel are fabulous, deeply knowledgeable about the space, caring about their clients, and passionate about their work, which makes all the difference! I also love that couples can stay on the property, taking an elevator directly to and from their wedding.

What is special about Bowery Hotel weddings?

This is not your typical hotel event space or ballroom with bad carpet, bright lighting, and generic wedding food—it’s quite the opposite. The Bowery Hotel is a very cool venue designed from floor to ceiling with Moroccan tiles, brick walls, vintage tapestries, 13-foot ceilings, wrap-around floor-to-ceiling windows, and character and charm around every corner. Couples can embrace the old-world charm with minimal décor, or go all out and dress up the space—it looks stunning either way! The drinks are amazing, with talented bartenders crafting not just standard cocktails but excellent martinis, margaritas, and more. The food, with its Italian leanings, is elevated yet approachable, featuring favorites like the Prime NY Strip Steak and the whole branzino fish, with options for a raw bar or gelato cart as delightful upgrades.

How have you transformed this venue in different ways to make it unique to each client?

Over the years, we've designed Bowery Hotel wedding spaces in various ways that reflect our couples' unique styles, personalities, and love stories. We were the first to introduce ceiling decor at the venue in 2017, working with Putnam Designs to hang greenery above the dining tables for Courtney and Gordon's wedding—a trend that quickly became popular. Since then, we've hung greenery, flowers, orbs, fringe, lighting, and other design elements from the ceiling. Our goal is always to create something unique and custom for our couples, filled with their DNA, favorite colors, tones, and vibes. We love pushing the boundaries of design—whether it’s a long dinner table under a full hanging garden by Mimosa Floral Design or a canopy of dense lights by Stortz Lighting in the fireplace room for a cozy winter dinner. We've tented and fully draped the terrace, filling it with vintage furniture and paper lanterns, adding dried floral orbs inside. The possibilities are endless at The Bowery Hotel, and we love exploring them with our couples!

What type of couple would you recommend this venue to?

A Bowery Hotel wedding is perfect for couples who want something different from a typical or traditional wedding venue. It’s ideal for those who appreciate character, old-world charm, and the hipness of a cool New York City hotel. While it comfortably accommodates 140-150 guests, it can host up to 200 (a bit snug, but doable) or up to 500 for a cocktail party. A wedding with 90-100 guests offers more creative possibilities, as a lower guest count opens up additional locations within the venue for various events. If you’re looking for a chic, delicious wedding that breaks away from cookie-cutter vibes, The Bowery Hotel is for you!

Any insider tips for Bowery Hotel weddings?

Consider having your after-party on-site in the front bar, perfect for an upbeat dance party or a chill after-party. The built-in bar and terrace keep the wedding energy high by eliminating the need to leave the venue. You can even transform the space to feel different from when guests first arrived. I also love suggesting the gelato cart—it’s super cute and adds to the Italian charm of the space, and they can make a custom Nutella container with your names on it for an additional cost, which is adorable! The venue has a moody, darker ambiance, so you may need to bring in an outside lighting company to brighten areas like the ceremony and dinner tables—unless you prefer the moody vibe, in which case, bring in all the candles! If you love the space's vibe, lean in fully and use the in-house tables, chairs, linens, flatware, china, and glassware, all included in the price. However, if you want to transform the space or add your own style, you can bring in your own linens, chairs, and tableware rentals—just be sure to use narrow chairs, as the dining room is cozy when full, like a popular NYC restaurant, buzzing and busy!

Bowery Hotel wedding costs

For weddings at Bowery Hotel, we suggest a minimum budget of $1,500 per guest for food, space, decor, entertainment, beauty, photo, video, stationery, etc. This does not include our planning fee or your wardrobe. Weddings offer numerous options for upgrades—from rentals to food, flowers, entertainment, and decor—each affecting your budget. The nicer the options or the more upgrades you select, the higher the budget will be. For example, choosing a band over a DJ or hanging flowers from the ceiling instead of placing them on tables will increase costs. The Bowery Hotel has a minimum spend for weddings, ranging from $70k-$80k plus tax and admin, depending on the season. Food and beverage cost around $400 per person, and the venue also charges a space fee and an AV fee for the in-house sound system and staff.

Bowery Hotel is a full-service event space, so it includes the space, AV, food, drinks, staffing, and all necessary rentals for your party, such as tables, linens, chairs, flatware, glassware, and china. They set up the floor plan according to your preferences, steam the linens, polish the silver, prepare the drinks, serve the food, and handle cleanup at the end of the night! Couples are responsible for decor, entertainment, beauty, photo/video, stationery, hotel blocks, and any other elements they wish to include.
