Marriage Equality makes me HAPPY!

Yesterdays rulings by the Supreme Court on DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act) and Proposition 8 were a huge victory for the gay community and the institution of marriage! I cannot tell you how moved I was when they announced that part of DOMA (the part that denies federal benefits to same-sex couples) was unconstitutional! Then shortly after they ruled that Proposition 8 ballot initiative (which defined marriage as a man and a woman) could not stand in the State of California! As a gay man and a gay wedding planner I am elated that the federal government ruled in favor of marriage equality ! Their ruling really proves that there is no law higher than love. Gay couples want and deserve the same thing as everyone else, the legal right to love one another, and little by little it is happening. I cannot wait to plan more gay weddings and watch more and more couples begin their journeys of love which is now legitimized by the government.

Yesterdays rulings were a step in the right direction but we have to keep the momentum high and help make marriage equality possible in all 50 states! Currently 13 states and the District of Columbia allow same-sex marriage so we have much work to do!
