Troutbeck Wedding Venue - Wedding Planner's Ultimate Guide

Troutbeck weddings in the Hudson Valley are some of our favorite New York destination weddings to plan. Troutbeck is a beautiful picturesque property in Amenia, NY, surrounded by nature, where friends and family can stay through the weekend to celebrate together. As New York wedding planners, the Jove Meyer team has planned and designed weddings and events at Troutbeck on multiple occasions. If you’re considering a Troutbeck wedding, here are a few of Owner + Creative Director Jove Meyer’s best tips.

About Troutbeck

Troutbeck is an estate hotel and wedding venue in the peaceful Hudson Valley. Troutbeck has so many spaces, both indoor and out from a beautiful garden to a fabulous pool, to use for your wedding weekend events. Troutbeck is just a little over 2 hours from New York City, so in a short time you can escape the hustle and bustle of the city, breathe in nature, and enjoy incredible food.

Why do you love working at this venue?

There are so many reasons I love working at Troutbeck. First, the team there is amazing and so passionate about what they do, which makes all the difference! Troutbeck’s lauded culinary program celebrates the region and seasonality, and their team goes above and beyond to tailor a menu to each couple’s vision. I also love that our couples and their guests get to take over the entire property for a weekend.

What is special about Troutbeck weddings?

I love how many spaces the venue has for us to work in, from the garden to the pool to the pole barn, the tall barn, the ballroom and many open fields. The creative options are endless!

I love that couples buy out the hotel for the weekend. It is so special seeing your favorite people around the property between events and having it exclusively yours! Once you drive onto the property and over the stone bridge, you and your guests will just feel so relaxed— birds chirping, the stream flowing and the fireplace crackling.

With the whole property yours for multiple days, you can host a beautiful welcome dinner, a relaxed wedding day, a farewell brunch— there are so many options, and I love to design each event to be its own unique experience.

How have you transformed this venue in different ways to make it unique to each client?

We have worked in almost every space of Troutbeck, both indoor and out, to host various events from welcome parties, ceremonies, cocktail hour, dinner, dancing, after party, brunch and so much more!

We have tented the garden for a rain proof ceremony and cocktail hour. We have tented behind the ballroom for a modern outdoor dinner. We have tented the field next to the garden for a fabulous welcome farm to table dinner. We have hosted a cocktail party in the pole barn, a ceremony in the tall barn…

What type of couple would you recommend this venue to?

Troutbeck is perfect for the couple that wants to be out in nature. It's great for the couple that wants to have everyone they love close together for a full weekend. Couples who love relaxed luxury would love Troutbeck— they work hard to take great care of their guests, both those staying on property in their rooms and also the guests coming for the events.

Any insider tips for Troutbeck weddings?

Troutbeck has so many spaces you can host events in. Be thoughtful about your weekend flow to ensure you highlight each space for the right event.

  • Don't forget your rain plan. It is so easy to fall in love with hosting an outdoor event but be sure to have a realistic rain plan for each outdoor event.

  • Since you have an entire hotel property to yourself, make the most of it and spoil your guests with cute amenities and or gifts and include personal touches throughout their stay!

  • I do recommend renting golf carts as the property is larger than you think and they help get you around quicker plus are helpful for elderly guests and anyone with mobility challenges.

Troutbeck wedding costs

For the Jove Meyer team to plan and design a Troutbeck wedding, we would recommend a budget of $1,500-$2,500 per guest, not including our planning fee or the couple’s wardrobe. This estimate includes venue, food and beverage, florals, stationery, entertainment, transportation, beauty, photo, video, rentals, lighting and favors. Final budgets are based on the couple’s selections, and each vendor category has a range of options at various price points. We find most couples do not pick the most affordable option and tend to lean towards nicer options and upgrades, which drives the budget. The largest budget variable that can push things towards the higher budget range is tenting, and that cost depends on the size, style and location(s) of the tent(s) needed. We work with our couples to understand their priorities and to use their budget in the best way possible.

What is one idea you've had for this venue that you would love to implement for a client?

I have so many fun ideas for this venue, but it has to be inspired by the couple. I specialize in crafting personalized weddings that are a reflection of the couples' style, personality and relationship.

I would love to design a stunning Troutbeck wedding for you that is unlike anything seen here before! Contact us for more details.
