Shine Bright at the Knot Gala
In work, in play, love and marriage, we believe strongly in authenticity and being true to yourself. So when we were honored with the task of planning and designing The Knot’s 10th annual gala, we knew that we had to celebrate and honor us all being true to ourselves. It was a theme all about living your best life and shining bright, both at the event and everyday!
Fourteen-Forty set the tone of the event beautifully with the unique materials used for the invitations. Holographic paper folded the invites in its iridescent elegance. The invite itself wowed with its watercolor design, each a one-of-a-kind acrylic work of art that inspired.
We wanted to blow guests away with our design and theme immediately upon arrival. To do so, we amplified the majestic entrance of the New York Public Library with an installation that shone. Mimosa Floral Design created a show-stopping field of florals in a brilliant color palette that reflected the battery-operated Astera lights (charged by the sun) of the staircase and sun installation. To get inside, guests had to walk through the beaming sun, stepping into the light of the event and metaphorically into their own self expression.
Inside, we celebrated the splendor of the NYPL in a fresh and fun way, adding color and illumination in a way that the space had never seen. The lighting served as an inspired creative element throughout the space. We wanted to modernize the use of lighting, and we did so by using environmentally friendly LEDs in hues of pink, purple, blue and white. Color-blocking reigned supreme as a design choice, allowing each space to provide the guests with a different bold experience. Mixed media and color was used in various spaces throughout for big impact. Floor-to-ceiling flower columns added a sculptural element, while a blue hanging installation of salvaged t-shirt material inspired. When tradition and inspiration meet, the result is always magical!
We love an event where guests are able to get involved, so for the dress code we asked our guests to shine bright along with us. Everyone went all out, glittering and glowing in their white and silver iridescent styles. It was such a fun way for the colorful design and theme to stand out, while maintaining the elegance of the night.
The food and bar was another way we added a special flair to the night. Pinch Food Designs wowed us all with delicious comfort food served with a twist. The dining was interactive, servers wore unique displays of small bites while the bars entertained with ice luges, pour over cocktails and self-serve stations. It was both entertaining and delicious. We’ve yet to meet anyone in the events industry that doesn’t love a party, so we wanted to ensure that each moment was memorable and surprising for all. Live entertainment kept the celebration going throughout the night. The talents of The Eleven inspired an epic dance party and a performance by Coup New York drove the theme of authenticity of self home.
The creative collaboration required to pull off this eco-conscious, fabulously colorful event was immense. We are forever grateful for the impressive partnerships and creative mindsets of all that took part. The memories created and captured by The Wedding Artists Co. will keep our hearts alight until we can celebrate together again. To our friends in the events industry, let’s continue to celebrate who we are. Let’s continue to create connection, beauty, joy and love. Take care of each other. Shine bright and shine on!
